My WIN98 SE system wont RESTART after installing a soundblaster live card.
I can still shut down windows through the start/close comp button, but Not restart
I have tried moving the card to diff. PCI slots, with same results. I have tried diff. drivers, which BTW not are easy to come by! (nice place -->Windows hangs at the "shuttting down winblows" screen and the only option is to hit the restart button manually.

Anyone have an idea??

Make sure that you don't have any programs running in the background. That is a known cause for systems to hang at shutdown... Enkrypted
A+

Thanx for you time Enkrypted!

Could you elaborate on your answer, which programs in the background??

However, my problem is NOT a SHUTDOWN problem, but a Restart Problem! My system only hangs using the "restart computer"
AND
If I remove the PCI SBlive card from my computer, without uninstalling drivers and so on, I can "restart" again... odd
It does'nt seem as if there are other problems with the sound card, everything works fine.... I just cant use the "resrart computer" option on my system, and thats kind of annoying.... don't ya think so... :-)

Could be the old SB 16 drivers installed for DOS compatibility.

Try booting in safe mode and disabling this driver. CitrixEngineer@yahoo.co.uk
