Hello,

We have a win 2k AD network and XP workstations. I want to bring another win 2k member server online to run a couple of report programs that I have written in VB and install an email server program called FirstClass .

I am wondering how I go about licensing my server. do I just need to buy 1 win 2k licence or do i have to by client licences for the new server.Users will not be using this server to log on to the network. They will just be using the above software that simply resides on the server.

Thanks

Mick

I would think the biggest problem is going to be with the clients, not the server. If it were me, I'd just go with the one license for the server. Here's an article I found interesting about the new licensing.

Hi Glen,

Thanks for the reply. I am a little confused. Why do you think the biggest problem will be with the clients?

Many thanks

Mick

Problems with the clients based on the article. You have to keep renewing the xp license every year according to the new licensing agreements.
