I have an IBM Thinkpad 770Z with MediaMatics DVD Movie Player software running the DVD drive. I need to update to Win 2000, but during setup the compatibility profiles show that it can't run the MediaMatics software. I have checked the IBM websites and the upgrades for the software are either for Win 95/98 or for every laptop but mine. The upgrade specifically for my ThinkPad has bold letter warning that it won't support Win 2000. What can I do to run both Windows 2000 and my DVD player? The Thinkpad is used so I have no original disks for the DVD drive itself or the supporting software. Can anyone direct me to a solution???

There are so many free Movie Players out there, just get another more recent one.

marcs41,

Thank you for your reply. I am new to the software install world... with that said, "do I just find a new version of a movie player on the web (IBM has one called DVDExpress, I noticed) and install it? I don't need to reinstall any drivers for the actual DVD-ROM device on the Laptop, do I? Will it just automatically use the new software to play a movie when I put it into the machine? I won't need a new DVD-ROM drive or anything, right?

Thanks!!

You're drive and driver will most probably be just fine, or can be updated without problems.
The player itself, any will do, heck even the latest MediaPlayer will play your movies.
Otherwise, search google for dvdplayer for free, you won't know what to choose ;-)
