I am having problems transfering zones from a Windows 2003 Primary DNS Server to a Solaris 9.0 BIND 9.2.4. I get the following error from named on the Solaris box. You can see the notifies passing back and forth.

Nov 19 15:17:48.991 transfer of 'xyz.info/IN' from 69.211.182.2#53: failed while receiving responses: end of file
Nov 19 15:17:48.991 transfer of 'xyz.info/IN' from 69.211.182.2#53: end of transfer

Any ideas would be much appreciated.

msteder,

Is the Solaris box set up as a primary or secondary DNS server? Did you specify the Solaris server's IP address in your Windows DNS settings?

The Solaris machine is the Secondary DNS Server and I have setup the Solaris ip for zone transfer on the Windows 2003 Primary DNS Server. The Win2003 is actually sending notifies to the Solaris when I update the zone files.

Here is my entry in named.conf

zone "joedata.info" {
type slave;
file "/usr/local/named/joedata.info.dns";
masters { 1.2.3.4; };
};

In the end, I had to ensure my firewall was NATing the correct ips out of both sites.
