WIN 2000 Pro SP4 - ITunes Dr. Watson Error 87

This is my girlfriend's laptop and trying to help her - but am "fuzzy" on Win 2000 and Dr. Watson. Maybe someone can enlighten me with a solution to this problem:

1) I installed ITunes (for IPOD) on a laptop with Windows 2000 Pro on it.
2) After getting Dr. W and Error 87 - I looked through help in ITunes.
3) Checked that was not to current set of updates (i.e. SP4) so I updated Win. Still have same error message coming up.
4) Did a REPAIR of the software (Itunes) and still have Dr. W and Err 87.

The software flashes on the screen for a brief moment and then the error comes up.

Anyone have some solutions.

I am running ITunes on my XP Pro with now issues on my new Dual Processor - but this old laptop is slow going. Any good ideas from those more in the know would be appreciated.

Try uninstalling iTunes and reinstalling it from scratch now that you have fully updated W2K.

Although I did not remember seeing those errors come up - I will look for them and when I re-install the software.
