I have several Windows 2000 Pro machines that take it upon themselves to change the default printer. The user will be printing things all day and then all of a sudden the print jobs wont print on the printer they have been printing on. I will look at the PC and the default printer will have been changed to another installed printer. What makes this a problem is that the PC normally changes to an Adobe or RighFax printer.

Has anyone else run into this problem before? If so, what causes it and how do I fix it?

Yes, I would point towards an ID 10 T error as well, or should that be ID10T (id ten t) When in doubt, kick 'er in the guts

No I've seen this too. In fact, why I came to this site in hopes to find a fix or tweak for it. We're running W2K, SP3. I do not recal if this happened with SP2 - we opened this location completely with SP3 and it happens on quite a few machines with no rhyme or reason to it. We can't be the only one's seeing this. :)

This rings a bell for me but can't really remember what happened. I think it was Adobes distiller printer causing the problems.

I knew I wasnt alone on this one...

Ashley, did removing the distiller printer solve the problem?

There are patches for the Adobe Acrobat on Adobe's web site. I've experienced this problem (and others with Office XP not printing correctly) and this patch solved them.

Try this link for the patch:

We are running Acrobat 5.0 here and had to install the 5.0.5 patch.

Daniel.
