Will Quark file open in Indesign 1

Can I open Quark files in Indesign? I've decided to make the switch I'm so irratated with Quark 6.

Indesign will open Quark 4 files. It will not open Q5 or 6. Q5 can save back to 4, so that's ok, Q5 is a problem as it only saves back to 5.

You might hold off for a week or 2. Adobe is set to announce at least some new versions of various app. You could see if they increase the ability of ID to open Q files.

I made a typo - said: Q5 is a problem as it only saves back to 5. I meant the first word to be Q6, not 5

A new version of InDesign to be released this year will not be able to open Quark 5 or 6. Quark 5 and 6 use an encrypted file format and Adobe cannot open this. Quark 7 will make use of a more open file format based on XML that Adobe might be able to use, but this functionality will not be possible until Quark 7 is released and Adobe releases a version of InDesign after that.

Saving to Quark 5 and then down to Quark 4 is your only option.

Thanks. I don't have a problem saving to Quark 5 and then down to Quark 4.
