I have a CM3.1.2 main core site with 20+ LSP sites all running CM3.x with S8300B servers. Now all the orders for new sites are coming with S8300C servers and CM4.x software due to the end of life with the S8300B. At this stage the client does not want to do any software or harware upgrades to the existing enviroment and I would like to know if any additional LSP sites can be added to the core site as S8300C LSP running CM4.x or will the LSP and core site not filesync correclty?

I have not tested this yet, but it is SUPPOSED to work. of course there are probably going to be issues, because of the way CM3 vs CM4 handles login/passwords, etc.

Give it a try and see what happens, it will either work, or not. It won't hurt anything at the main site.

I would talk the client into upgrading to CM 4.0.3 at all sites, you will have a more peacefull life if you can do that :) FYI, the S300B can run CM 4, we have several S8300B's running it, so you won't need new hardware to do the upgrade.

For a small period of time like a series of upgrade, YES. But for long term NO. Why because Different CM levels have different translation (basically commands sets) In Long term, translations on LSP get corrupted because it cant understand some of the commands the older versions have. I've seen alot of this during my maintenance.

We run 3.1.4 at our main site and just installed three 8300C servers with CM 5. Working fine so far.
