If an upgrade from 6.1 to 7.0 results in a defaulted system, can the 6.1 NRU backup be restored on the 7.0 sytem?

Asking 'cause the attempt to put the system back to 6.1 with the 6.1 restore resulted in a changed system ID and the loss of the PRI keys...I'd prefer not to have that happen again...

NO, versions have to match exactly. MAP files have to match. Maybe someday. Sorry. The system ID code changing is becoming a real issue. It sucks.

you have to be kidding! I have to upgrade a 100 plus phone system. I may lose system ID and have to program from scratch...plus possible new PRI code? Is Nortel doing anything to rectify this huge defect? Any other ideas for system backups?

Upgrades are a pain ... usually i manage convincing the customer for paying for doing a reinstall

Here is an extract from 6.1 MICS installer guide:

for MICS (all versions)4.0, 4.1 and 5.0 -> 6.1
Insert MICS CS ROM cartridge with appropriate
software load.
Caution: Ensure you have a release version 2.0
NVRAM cartridge before you attempt the upgrade.
Note: The line numbering for your system will
change with this upgrade.

MICS (all versions)6.0 -> 6.1
Insert MICS CS ROM cartridge with appropriate
software load.

Here is an extract from MICS 7.0 installer guide:

MICS (all versions)6.1 and 6.1 MR -> 7.0
Insert MICS CS ROM cartridge with appropriate
software load.

So bottom line, if you want to go to 7.0 bring it to 6.1
Hope this is clear (as formatting was gone in the copy/paste)

I was going to go from 5.0XC to 6.1XC first, then 6.1XC to 7.0XC. If I do this will it work? If there is an upgrade tool needed, i'll get it. Just need to be sure of not losing sys ID or PBX data. Not sure of release version of NVRAM Cartridge, I'll double check and make sure it is up to date. Could incorrect cartridge be the reason so many are getting problems with the upgrade, lost PRI codes, different system ID's, long boot times, etc.? I have installed brand new 7.0 MICS and CICS without problems, but haven't upgraded any to 7.0 because of all the horror stories so far. I really need to make sure that this upgrade is not going to fall apart on me during a weekend upgrade. Last thing I need is monday morning to be waiting on a new PRI code from my supplier.

Thanks!
