I know this is kind of an Outlook question, but I think it is related to exchange. Our users have Outlook 2003 and when the start typing this person's name in our Org it is autocompleting the name with a <xxxx> after it in the pop up. Well, thats fine, but the xxxx in the <> is wrong and I can't find out where to change it? I looked in the active directory and then in ESM 2000 and nothing. Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Wes

Hey Netadmin

The <XXX> is the user's login name if the are in the same Active Directory domain, if not then the <XXX> is the users email address. I would start by checking to see what Outlook is using first as an address book, are they using the GAL or their own contacts. I had a user send emails to another user's private email because that user was in her contacts as well as in the GAL. Outlook was set to use the contacts first so it prepoulated that address first.

Hope that helps

Well thanks for the reply, but we are set up to use the GAL first and it is appearing on many different users who tried to send an email to this person. I have searched ALL OVER the AD and the email address and I cannot find it. This is a weird one.

It isn't in ESM. It will definitely be in ADUM - make sure you've got the advanced tabs showing as well.

That "autocompleting" is the nickname file on the local workstations. Users can highlight it and whack the delete key to kill it. Addresses are added to that list upon a successful message sent to that address.
