We have had a problem with one router on the remote end of a point to point connection. It is a 1721 with a WIC-1DSU-T1 v2 card. This card causes an immediate alarm on the smart jack. We tried the router on the other end and it was fine. We replaced the WIC card with the older version (not v2) and it works fine on the remote end.

Someone told me that the v2 has built in encryption? Could that cause problems on certain lines ? I am looking for any feedback from anyone that has experience using the v2 version of this card and if they have had any problems with it.

Thanks

Thanks - guess I should have mentioned we checked the supported hardware and IOS versions before purchasing. It is supported on the router we are using. Also, the router and WIC work at a different location.

When you look at sh int do you see up/up? What about the config? I recently put one of these in and saw somethng new (for me anyway). The card comes up as controller0 and controller 1 (it was a two T1 card). After I configured the controller I then saw the serial interfaces and was able to configure them.

I do see up and up from the host location, not the remote. I think I am using a slightly different card than what you are describing. I had the 2 port card that shows up as controller 1. You have to add the timeslots for the serial interface to show up.
