Several different computers I support have had Java seemingly stop working over the past few weeks and I'm not sure why. I'm hoping that someone can shed some light on this one.
All of the computers involved are W2Ksp4 and using Sun - Java v. 1.4.1_01. I've gone to the Microsoft knowledge base to find out if maybe there is a critical update that is being automaticly loaded that is preventing Sun-Java from loading correctly, but the knowledge base says that it's a problem with conflicting versions. The MS version was never loaded on these PCs and there have been no recent upgrades to any of the software or java applets occuring on these's PC that I can tell.
The only way I've been able to resolve this issue is the completely removing anything and everything Java related on the computer, including all registry entries and re-installing. That's the easy part. The mind-boggler for me is that this doesn't work until I've upgraded the computer's Direct X version to ver. 9. Seriously. I've tested this serveral times. They just seem to stop working. Java applets stop loadeding. Everything else works fine.
Wierd.
Thanks for your help.
