I know it is such a stupid question to ask, but what is subnet? as far as i know, each physical segment should have its own subnet. the part that i don't understand is that assuming my small network is 192.168.0.0/24, if i need another network/subnet due to expansion, i can have 192.168.1.0/24, right? why i need 192.168.0.0/25 and 192.168.0.128/25? 192.168.0.0 to 192.168.255.0 are private networks anyway. I am just too confused to present my question more clearly. Please help.

I'm just as confused to give you an answer as well, read the links below and maybe the results would at least can reprhase your question. Basically, if you want to isolate groups of PCs and servers put them in a separate subnet. Hope other people can help you
