why pages can't be viewed when computer is disconnected from lan?
I set my IP as 192.168.0.1, and local server is located in my drive.
My lan only has 2 computers.
I can view my pages when the onter is on.
And I can not even view "//localhost", when the other is off?
Do I have to connected with another one when I need to preview my pages? "Learn till the last breath."

By pressing F12.... "Learn till the last breath."

Merry christmas..

My LAN(peer to peer) at home compose of 2 computers,
I set my IP as 192.168.0.1 and another 192.168.0.2,
Mine: Win2000 pro,
The other win98se,

I set my local : d:\my work\book local
remote: d:\my work\book remote

Strangely, when I run once "ServerVriables.REMOTE_add" I found my IP was 127.0.0.1....and my server was 127.0.0.1

I could not figure it out.... "Learn till the last breath."

127.0.0.1 is the default ip for your web server (IIS). Otherwise I don't have any suggestions that make sense. Using F12 everything should be local.

Sorry, Peace

I would like bluetone to know, I figued this question out accidentally....and therefore got a new one!
I got 2 10/100m ethernet cards installed, one for ADSL(IP is 'automatic') ,the other for LAN (192.168.0.1 ).

So, when I am connected to LAN, after "command Ping", my IP is 192.168.0.1, then I have to set my local server as the same in IIS before I can view my asp pages;

When I am disconnected from LAN, by command "ping", my IP would be "169.154.208.1xx",then I have to change my local server to the same before I can view my asp pages....

Is that normal...or I mean, can I have a better setting than this....?
"Learn till the last breath."
