Hello all,
this may be a vague question but... i really have no idea what may cause this.
I was working along and then bam, a blue screen nicely stating that "beginning dump of physical memory..."
so i would like to know why this happens?

any suggestions?

thanks

Unfortunately, your question is rather vague. Please can you give us more info about the blue screen eg. errors listed (not an essay but just specifics). It could be caused by almost anything -----------------------------------------------------
"It's true, its damn true!"
-----------------------------------------------------

What I receive is a blue screen with all these addresses listed. The screen is full of addresses and next to these addresses it lists "ntoskrnl.exe".
it was an ugly screen.
thanks and sorry for the vagueness

It down to your RAM (physical memory). It could be either damaged or incompatible with your other hardware. This is what I found it to be in a few of our workstations.

How many sticks of RAM are in your computer?
How many times have you had this blue screen error?
Did you or someone else build the computer, or was it bought from a shop?

I'd recommend replacing all of your RAM with some decent stuff e.g. Kingston ( - enter the model of your board and it tells you the right type to get).

Regards

i have the same problem on nt4... machine was worknig fine.. den it jus started the dumps.. i replaced the RAM but i still get the error.. it doesn't happen staright after startup but after a while..

could it be dat i need to re apply service pack 6?

It never harms to reapply service pack in NT - but its likely a driver or other hardware (if RAM definitely ok) problem causing this issue. Are there any clues in the event viewer?

event viewer gives me event id 9... which i cant find in the technet...

i dont really wanna replace the m/b but do u tink it could be the m/b?

thanx alot.. i tink now am pretty sure its a hardware fault not a software... ill have to check bit by bit... ty again mate

Have any new drivers or hardware been installed?

I the list is files on the bluescreen, what are the names of the last 3 or 5...?
