I am hoping someone can help. See thread181-350699 for the whole post, but basically, I am trying to use an AutoExec function to make sure that a user in a secured database has a password when they log on, but the function won't work unless the user trying to log on is in the Admins group. It returns a 3251 error (object or provider is not capable of performing requested operation).

I have been over and over my .mdw file and it seems to be working correctly (but I could be wrong!)

I am wondering if it could be my references? (I am SO a novice user and plead ignorance)...these are the ones I have selected right now:
Visual Basic for Applications
Microsoft Access 10.0 Object Library
Microsoft DAO 3.6 Object Library
Microsoft VB for App Extensibility 5.3
Microsoft Calendar Control 10.0
Microsoft ActiveX Data Objects 2.7 Library
Microsoft ADO Ext. 2.7 for DDL and Security
Microsoft Jet and Replication Objects 2.6 Library
Microsoft ActiveX Data Objects Recordset 2.7 Library
OLE Automation

I have no idea if these need to be in a different order, etc.

I apologize because I posted this on the Other Topics forum the other day, but I have been pulling my hair out [dazed] trying to come up with an answer. I have run into several messages referencing this same problem on other groups, but they are never answered.

(for example:

ORRRRR

If there is a different way to do the same thing that the code in the above-reference thread is trying to do, I would be greatful to hear [bigears] about it!

Thanks so so much!

p.s. I have read all about the possible 3251 errors on the microsoft support and msdn websites and this situation doesn't seem to be any one of those either...
