New to Access. Created a data base. Deleted it. When I start Access I still see the deleted database in the start-up dialog box. How can I get rid of it altogether so that the deleted database does not show up in the start-up dialog box?.

This is a Microsoft feature. The same thing happens with Word, Excel, Project, etc. etc. This is NOT unique to Access.

You did NOT specify what version you are on. But you could try searching the registry, since many applications store the "last used" references there..
