heres my xp-erience from my w2k server class at college
(finals was 2 days ago). chapter 14 = iis. set up home directory
c:\inetpub\test2. i setup default.asp at the top of the document list.
<<<< i know default.asp works, because
from explorer,i click on the file, click "open with" IE,
and it opens ok >>>>>
BUT....when i go to IE, enter and what comes up? a different file, iisstart.asp.
wtf? neither the guy who sits next to me (a network admin)
nor the teacher, could fix it.
ps: yes, i stopped all other websites
including the default website, and i
started the website test2.
thx, capy :)

1capybara,

Check for any global level ASP files that execute prior to your page running.

A good idea when possible is after a new install of IIS is to archive your root files then purge your root directory to avoid any unintended behaviors or values.

Perhaps, double-check your file\dir ownership too.

Good luck,

also your IIS settings for which page it pulls up. IIStart.asp is in it and it is at the top of the list.. You either need to move it to the bottom of the list or completly remove it to stop it from displaying.
