Why do I remember that I could easily change the location of the log file or the data file of one of my databases?

I just tried doing it and got a nice message saying that since the database already started logging into the file I cannot move the file at all.

???

If that is true, then how would I go about this? I was told to put all the logs files of the dbs in another drive (per MS instructions).

Thank you in advance

To change the location of data or log file you would need to detach and reattach the db or perform a restore with move.
