Why can't I install VB 6 on Windows XP?

I have tried just about everything to install VB 6 on Windows XP, but simply cannot. I have tried to execute setup.exe, but the program crashes; I've entered in the command-line statement for entering setup, but I get to a portion where it is looking for previous installations and asks me to first run the setup wizard. I am frustrated and don't know where to go from here.

Does anybody have any answers?

Thank you!

VB6 definitely installs ok on XP. Maybe your version is an upgrade and its expecting the previous version (4 or 5) to be installed first ?

..or not logging in with administrator rights?

No, I am definitely not using an upgrade and I have administrator rights.

I also had problems installing on XP. Simply use compatibility mode and it installs fine. No need to run in compatibility mode.

Thanks for all of the help. The only thing now is that about 1/2-way through the installation, I get all of these error messages that none of the DLLs will register.

Any thoughts?
