I always thought it was a strange name SHORT CODES. Why are they not just not called FEATURE CODES? Telling customers to use a Short Code is kind o cryptic but a Feature Code is self explanatory. Anyone know why Avaya calls it Short Codes?

You had best find and then ask the guys from Network Alchemy who designed the system :)

Why did Avaya put an I behind newer 16xx Phones ( ie 1616-I ) when they are called Localized?

It has been debated weather it is:

a) I is a lower case L (|) for Localized
b) I for International

But who cares.....as long as they work [smile]

Kind regards

Gunnar

When you are a salesman and also have to train the customer these things do matter because they come up as questions and need an answer that makes sense to the customer if you are going to close the sale and the ease of training when training so the person you are training quickly understands how their handsets work and how to use the features.

Feature code was taken (by Nortel).
Short Code works just fine.

Just tell them the name is not important, but the function is:)

Kind regards

Gunnar
