Is there anyway to get Windows to print people's username at the bottom of everything they print out??

People in the office are printing out things that they shouldn't & it's ruining it for everyone else, so we want to find out who the guilty party is.

Turn on Auditing thru Group Policy. In the System portion of the Event log on your print server, you'll get an event 10 each time the printers are accessed telling you who printed and what they printed...

Thanx for the answer

But is there no way that I can get the username to be printed onto the footer of a page??

as far as I know, not thru W2K. Of course, who knows what 3rd party tools are out there..?

Once again thanx, Your advice has been great

Does anyone know of any 3rd party tools that do the job???

You may be able to set the network device to use a print separator page and put the username on that. I've not tried since the old Vax days though (yes, I'm old!).

Yeah, that's a great suggestion. You used to be able to do that with Novell and with the Client for Novell in NT. I use all HP's under 2K though and haven't found that option yet...
