Hello I am using Adobe Photoshop CS version 8.0.

Out of the blue the white is not white...it is like a off white. I checked everything. I tried using only web colors FFFFFF etc. Also when I import a screen shot the image is slightly yellow. What could have happened? Do I need to reinstall?

My color profile is sRGB IEC61966-2.1 Color mode is RGB color 116 bit. Not sure if this means anything.

Thanks.

What makes you think white is not white? Are you looking at the values in the info pallette? The RGB values in the info pallette should all be 255 for the whitest white.

If they are all (Red, Green, and Blue) 255, and you are not seeing white on your monitor, the monitor needs to be calibrated. If there was a sudden change, there could be a problem with the monitor and/or the video card. However, the usual problem is that the monitor is not calibrated.

If you are making prints that are not white, you need to explain how the prints are being made.

Adobe RGB 1998 is frequently recommended as a good color profile. You should convert your images to that profile. Photoshop can do this. Your image could be 16 bit, but not 116. 16 bit is good.

You can try the Adobe Gamma program.

Start > Control Panel > double click the Adobe Gamma Icon and follow the instructions to calibrate your monitor.

If that doesn't work try resetting your preferences to factory settings. See my post on thread229-1025611

Good Luck
