I'm considering creating a couple of add-on software packages to Intuits QuickBooks Pro accounting software package. Although I will not be the programmer (former finance guy), I would like to know which programming language should the add-on application (not a complex program) be written in? The program will extract data base info from QuickBooks and upload transactions and data base additions back into QuickBooks. Would the programming language be different if the application was to run on the Web? A second application will use a PDA (Palm) - would that be in a different language as well? Thanks! Doug

Which software to use?

Up to last week you have had to try very hard to decode the intuit data format. It's not published you see, so you would need to sleuth it out. But now Intuit are going to release the API (well for a price) so you can. The language is not important.
