which is better? nforce 2's APU? or SBlive value?

i don't use 5.1, just simple 2.1 speakers, but a relatively good one

Overkill in both cases
Either will give very good quality audio output for simple 2.1 .
Technically the onboard (soundstorm) audio is supposed to be better (close thing though) but obviously at the cost of some CPU utilization, where as the seperate 5.1 Live card will use less resources than the onboard.

Both V.good
Try with both and make your own mind up as it is a close thing.

It's of no consequence to try out the nForce2's onboard audio because you are forced to buy onboard sound with the motherboard no matter which board manufacturer you go with. So just try it out for yourself and see what you think.
