I've installed an external device. Suse does a real nice job of auto-sensing the device and setting it up. However, I don't know how to determine what device file in /dev that Suse is using for my new device. I need to mount my new device in /etc/fstab but need to know what device file is being used for it. Is there a command to list this info?
Thanks for any help.

The divice is an external firewire H.D.
But rather than just telling me what it is, I'd like to know myself how to find this out. Normally, I'd dig around through some GUI apps that list this info. But I don't want to be reliant on GUI stuff. Any commands?

Is SuSe mounting it as a filesystem under, say, /mnt/something? If so, try 'fuser /mnt/something'. 'fuser' is a really handy tool to have around. Works for your network ports too:
fuser -n tcp 80
fuser -n udp 4000
fuser /mnt/cdrom
