Where to locate mdw-file?

Hi,
I have a db running on a secured and split db, running on a NT Server. I use a shortcut to open the secured db. I have placed the mdw file at the same location as the backend on the server. Is there any recomendations for where to place the workgroup file?

I put the workgroup file in the same location as the backend. Simply because I know everyone who is accessing my database has access to the folder where the back-end resides. I don't have to worry about giving users rights to yet another folder.

Yes, I agree with you. It also is easier to administrate since it resides only on the server. My question was a bit vague; I was more curious to know if this creates network traffic 'all the time' or just when the user logs on?
