Hello,
I am quite new to perl & wanted to know which & where to download the language Perl? I looked on my system, but can't find it. I wanted to get the best (FREE) version for my system. I am a web designer & mainly use Javascript & HTML, but I have been needing to get into Perl.
I have win98 2nd edition.
Thanks! [sig][/sig]

Welcome roystreet,

There are two approaches to getting Perl on your system.
If you are using a M$ Win OS, then go to and download the appropriate version for your OS. It comes as with a 'setup.exe' type installer, so all you do is the typical double click and answer a few questions. Additionally, the activeState bundle contains their 'Perl Package Manager' (PPM) which enables you to easily download and install modules.

The other approach is to go the the 'Comprehensive Perl Archive Network', and get the software there. If you are using a UNIX OS, CPAN is the way to go.

Hope this helps.... [sig]<p> <br><a href=mailto: > </a><br><a href= > </a><br> keep the rudder amid ship and beware the odd typo[/sig]
