where did this control curve come from?

When working in CorelDRAW 9, some objects all of a sudden become a "control curve" and become impossible to work with. They won't delete, for instance. What are they? Why do they happen? and How do I make the object not be a control curve? [sig][/sig]

An object becomes a control curve when you use the Fit text to path command - it becomes the control path the text follows
you can use the 'separate' command to make them 2 separate objects again but the shaped text may start to behave strangely with nothing to control it!
