I have some old code and I need to recompile it with VB6. Where can I get this from? I thought I saw it on the microsoft site as a free download but I possibly imagined it.

If not, where can I buy it?

Thanks

Well I was surprised at the pricing after a few searches!
Here is an interesting thread that may be helpful:
Got Vis Studio/SQL Server 2005 (.net) for free for attending
an MS seminar. Just started cracking a book last week. Most of our stand-alone stuff is VB6 but will need to be ported at some point (hate to see it, love VB6). At least they're leaving VBA alone for now.
Jeez, no wonder Gates has a tad too much in the bank...

If you do plan to buy on auction sites be sure to look for product numbers that match your needs.

For example some auctions list full version for sale and fail to mention that the product is academic version which limits your rights to redistribute the software you create.

A valid Product number for NON-academic Visual Studio is:

Visual Studio 6 Proffesional : 659-00390
Im not sure what the product number is for VB6 only though.

Might I suggest you Google 'VSTA' ...

VSTA - thanks for wrecking my day!
One saving grace:
To ease this transition we have designed VSTA to operate side by side with VBA in the same host application.

Oh well, nothing is constant but change. Gonna have to get a bigger box to hold all my new programming tools, I guess. At least it keeps the job interesting learning new stuff all the time...

To be honest I don't think they're going to rip VBA out of Office for a good while yet

ok thanks for the replies guys, looks like my code is defunct for now :s

What version of VB was the original code written for? What will the program be used for? If it's just a recompile, maybe you could find someone who has VB6 installed to do that for you.
