Back in win98 I could delete the PWL password files, where do I find that in XP?

We have a program that asks for a password to upload thru the internet to our home office, and for some reason the program will not accept the password. We can use the password at the home office but it just wont work with the software. We have uninstalled and reinstalled but still it wont work. I thought if I could delete the OLD password files, maybe then it would work.

Any suggestions would be appreciated

I'm having the same.
I'm trying to run a login script
with

net time \\chester1 /set /y
net use f: \\chester1\documents
net use s: \\chester1\s
net use \\server2\data /savecred
net use r: \\server1\userdata /savecred

Where the user is in Chester & trying to log into 2 remote servers

If their credentials fail then

To solve the problem one can

Start, Settings,Control Panel,
User Accounts
Advanced
Manage Passwords
Then highlight & remove anything that relates to the failed login.

Only work on XP Pcs on a domain

See MS Article 281660 for more info & other environments.

tracywl,

The .PWL trick will not work with XP.

Start, Run, control userpasswords2

Manage your passwords from there.

I suspect though that this will not resolve your issue with passwords and the program you are using. You might try:

. Changing the settings for auto-complete: In IE, Tools, Internet Options, Content, and look in both settings boxes under "Personal Information." You should play with the Auto Complete and password prompting options.

. You might try using the Compatability Wizard on the application. Right-click the .EXE file for the application and choose properties to access the compatability features.

Thanks, I will let you know if any of it works.
