when i scan the file increases in priv.stm

dear all
i have a problem in exhchange server 2000.
when i scan my server useing NAV for server edition it showing as virus js fortnight.c has been infected. and i changed the settings to delete all files in NAV and started scanning for all the files which is in M drive. some of the files are not able to delete by NAV, in middle of the scanning server given report as Hard Disk Full. i found priv1.stm file size has been increased. at present now am running out of space. mean time i need to know how come this priv1.stm files size is been increased rapidly??. i found no emails are in queue or i recieved. lot fo replies and help will be appreciated. thanks in advacne.

It is known that it is bad practice to scan M: drive.

I think there are a few articles on the symantec site about this too.
