The ColdFusion Studio comes packaged with IBM WebSphere Application Server. When I tried to install it, my system locked so badly it wouldn't shut down, let alone restart.

There's a forum on WebSphere, and most of the questions seem to be of the "How do I get this to run?", not "How do I get this job done?" variety.

Does anyone else use it? Is it just me, or my equipment? Can I leave it completely out?

Never heard of WebSphere. As far as I know, you can use any web server software you want. I have Microsoft ISS, but that just what they would give me. I've used Personal Web Server, and there are others on this forum who use Apache, for example. So, I think the answer is, yes, you can leave it out and use whatever server software you want. You do have to have some kind of server installed.

Hope this helps! Calista :-X

Thanks, Callista, I just got most of it removed from my poor system (an hour's ordeal)and I am back with IIS, and happy as can be. CF Studio is running fine. Now to the tutorial!!
