I just setup Secure Platform for Checkpoint R55 and once you log in to the server and change your credentials, you can't log in anywhere else. Not the webui, not through SMARTconsole. You keep getting, "Authentication to x.x.x.x failed". The same goes for webui. If you log in there, you can't log in to the command line on the server itself. Why must Checkpoint toy with me like this ??!!!

You must have misconfigured along the way. Checkpoint
does not behave this way, user error does.

I'm sorry, could you try being a little more vague ? And no, this is not a result of user error. I logged in as admin, admin thru the webui, changed the username and password and keep getting authentication failed on either the console or thru SMART. Unless your part of Checkpoint tech support, I'm not sure you're qualified to speak for them.

1) do NOT use the web UI, you must configure the splat box via CLI from the console first.

2) you shouldn't be changing admin's password from the
webUI, bad thing tends to happen. you can can create new
users from the webUI but do NOT touch the "admin" account.

And yes, I am part of checkpoint TAC support

1) I DID use the webUI to configure the console first.

2) I DID change the admin password from the webuI and created new users through it.

3) I can now log in to SMARTconsole without a problem.

4) I concede, being that you are part of CP support, it was user error.

This is my advice:

1) Always do your system configuration change via the CLI,
either through console or SSH. The WebUI should be used
to view the configuration only. When you make changes
via the WebUI, sometimes the change appeared to be working
but it does NOT. I think this is a code issue with
Checkpoint in R55.

2) Based on my experience, I can say that the WebUI in
R55w and NGx R60 is much better improve than previous
version. That being said, I still prefer to do everything
from the CLI.
