I installed my Geforce GTS agp video card and everytime I shut down my system then start it back up, windows has replaced the new driver which is "WindowsXP approved" with its own driver, which does not work properly since it does not set the frame rate properly, and when I go to advanced settings the monitor is set to default, not plug & play, and under adapter it shows some stupid VGASAVE as the driver..This is getting really old since I have to reinstall the driver everytime I start my system and restart the system again for it to take effect..I have run into the same problem with windows XP trying to install its own drivers for my Lexmark Z32 printer even though the print is already installed as the default with its own drivers that I installed. If I uninstall the windows printer "not the default", then after a while or when I restart, WindowsXP will show that it has found a printer and reinstall its own drivers for its own printer, all the while the default printer is still there..Also, had this same problem with my Acer ScanPrisa 640U flat bed scanner..WHAT IS THE DEAL WITH WINDOWSXP not wanting or letting updated drivers replace its outdated one and MAKING SO THEY STAY IN PLACE?????I never had this much trouble with Windows98,,EVER!! I am really close to going back to Windows 98, unless I can figure out how to make my updated drivers stay in place!! What kills me is that all of these drivers I have tried to install have passed WindowsXP Quality testing and are approved...CAN ANYONE PLEASE HELP ME..???!!!
