System is AMD K6-2 300MHz, 64Mb PC100SDRAM, VIA Chipset, s3 Virge 4Mb. Recently purchased NVidia TNT2 Ultra 32Mb, after three weeks of messing about I tried literally everything and could not make the system stable with this card, probably a low level hardware conflict. I just want something that will run 3D well and fast and is stable on AMD/VIA systems (if you search for it, TNT2 and AMD don't agree). I obviously want the card that will give me maximum performance for my Amish - Spec system. Any ideas much appreciated.

Your system is going to be so restrictive for any of the newer graphics cards so my advice would be to buy a second hand Voodoo 3 or 4, you will probably find that an older card like the Voodoo will run more stabley and at about the same frame rates as a newer GF2 or 3 due to your system restrictions.
Voodoo 3's and 4's come in PCI or AGP form, make sure you buy the correct one. Martin Please let members know if there advice has helped any.

How does a Voodoo 3 3000 AGP sound. Question 2 what is it worth, I know that this is relative but is it worth more than AUD80?? Approx ((Headwork)(Brain Overheating) USD $44). And Sounds cheap is it? And (oh sorry started a sentence with a preposition) How can I find RAM for my system, I used to love the syntax in DOS so easy can someone tell me the parameters (ram - wise I have a K6-2 with VIA recently flashed the bios, can somone tell me how too figure what kind of ram one has? i need to go into a computer shop and say I want ra ra rea, cheers buddy. Any tech hints welcomed, I love dos, wasn't it just easier to say dir/a/w/s!!

I have an older PC w/ close to the very same specs. Its a via mobo and i went and bought a 64mb Gforce 2. Works great and really sped the system up. It was a great fix for under 50 bucks. Runs XP Pro a lot nicer.

XP pro on a 300mhz machine? Don't think so! and if it runs why would you want to burden such a low spec machine with a power hungry OS like XP? doesn't really make sense, but then thats your choice.
Here in the UK a Voodoo 3 3000 AGP would fetch about
£20, I guess thats around $30 USD second hand.
And I can tell you about two differant people I know who went from a Voodoo 3's to a GF2 64mb MX400's, both ended up with slower frame rates because of there older chipset motherboards and slow processors.
I know in a newer machine the GF2 is going to better the Voodoo 3 by some margin but I have seen this anomoly time and time again with older setups.
