Hi, a mate at work just gave me 3 cisco 2500 series routers.
i was thinking of sorting myhome network out a, i currently have a crappylittle adsl modem/router/switch, and then a win2003 domain server,Suse8 file server, video encoder,Windows 2000 pro media PC,2 Macintosh's on OSX, and a couple of windows XP Pro machines.
At the moment i am afraid to leave my domain controller switched onas it has no efective firewall protection, i run software firewalls on my windows pc's andthe ammount of attention they recieve worries me slightly, if my firewall flags up potential intrusion attempts to me, what chance does an unprotected domain server have?, loose that and my network goes down.
If i slot this router in after the adsl modem, what can i do to make the rest of the network more secure?
