I have a client that has 500v2 vcm's and user licenses for IP phones. They are opening a new site and want to take 5 1608 phones to that site. I know they will need new routers to create the VPN tunnel to allow those phones to work from there. The question is what routers are supported by Avaya or which routers should I tell the client to buy?
Thanks for your advice

You need a frewall, not a router per sey. You need something that can host a permanent VPN connection. Also you ant something which suppors QoS. A common one is the SonicWall TZ100 or 150. The Cisco RV220 is one commonly used as well.

The fortinet 250c is a good vpn router as well.

Draytek 2800 series are also know to work without issue.

provided the router you choose can be configured to setup a permanent IPSec tunnel you should be fine

We have used Drayteks a lot, they are good value for money but can cause odd SIP issues regardless of SIP ALG being on/off. They are basically a bit like the IP Office in that they work well and give good features for what you pay but they are buggy :)

Oh and forget about running NAT'd remote phones through them...

I "forget" about running NATed phones full stop. there are so many things that cause them to fail it is rarely worth the trouble.
