I am new to CISCO world. My company needs to setup a Router and a Firewall. We have around 25 users, most of them are remote, about 7 in the office. I will also be setting up Exchange 2K for email. We also use pcAnywhere to remotely connect to servers when needed.

I need advice as to what type of Router and Firewall should I get.

Thanks for help.

PIX 501 cost is roughly 600 for a user license count of 25 and 450 for a user count of 10. If you plan on more then 5 concurrent VPNs, then consider the 506E PIX which has more horsepower then the 501.

1750 router which is the replacement of the 1600 series.

1750 router which is the replacement of the 1600 series. If you have need for more expandablity then what a 1750 can do, then consider a 2611 which is a dual ethernet 10 1/2 router. A step up would be the 2621 which is dual 100Mbps ethernet router. Of course, the cost goes way up to get that 100Mbps

If you need a DMZ for the mailserver, then it's a bit more complicated. But you can *fake* a DMZ between the router and PIX with a hub and a bit of clever configuration.

You can always run a static NAT entry for the mailserver if you do not want a DMZ.
