I have files that I need to open that have .IN1 or .IN2 extensions or .LD1 or .LD2 extensions and I don't know what program(s) to open them with. They have something to do with a process of importing and exporting data between a DOS based program and Access and could simply be instructions on the proceedure, but that's all I know. Any ideas?

I opened the files in Notepad, but I still don't know what program(s) they originated from.

I use:

to find that stuff out.

However, proprietary programs can use any type of file they want and give them any old file extension that is meaningful to the program. Doesn't mean they're meant for you to open, and doesn't mean you ought to (or at least, I wouldn't change them). Where are they? If they're in your TEMP folder, you should be able to just delete them. Anne Troy

Dreamboat,

Thank you for the link and the information. My supervisor asked me to open them and he is the IS Manager here, so if they shouldn't be opened I think he'd know better. They were emailed to me by him. It's a long story...but I'm not touching anything I shouldn't be, I assure you. Thanks again.
