How can I tell what process is currently locking/accessing particular file?

Has anyone else had problems downloading and pkgadding lsof?

lsof is very much kernel dependant.
SunSWAT packages do not have an lsof binary for the 64-bit architecture.

You can try this:

To find out what files are opened by the server, you can try a tool such as lsof, which you can download from the following site, or one of its mirror sites:

ftp://vic.cc.purdue.edu/pub/tools/unix/lsof/

/usr/ucb/ps -axuww|egrep filename
