Hi Fellas

I don't really have a problem, I just want to know if there is a way in Windows XP or some other 3rd party software that is able to show me what ports are opened on my computer and what program is listening on that open port.

Thanks for your time

There certainly is 3rd party software for that, but I don't know any. However, you have a few free options to check what ports are open on your PC : that is the port scanners that are part of security evaluations on the web.

You can start by checking these sites :
AuditMyPC
Sygate Security Scan
Symantec Security Check
test my firewall

If you want more tests, just google for "firewall security test" and you'll find plenty more.

They won't tell you if anyone is listening though.

Pascal.

Thanks Mate

Appreciate your time :)

I ran the security tests available at the recommended sites. The results were that my system was at risk because I had ports 21, 23 & 80 open. I don't use FTP, I don't use telnet and I don't operate a web server. So how do I close these ports to reduce my risk?
