what is wrong in login ?

when i add a new user, and
changed its home directory to
/export/home/login_name,
and edit /etc/passwd and try # usrmod -d "new_home_dir" id

it always output
"cannot determine current directory"

what is wrong ?

When you did "usrmod -d "new_home_dir" id" did you make it an absolute pathname or a relative pathname? (e.g., usrmod -d /new_home_dir id OR usrmod -d new_home_dir id) the first way explicitly tells the machine where the directory is, the second way tells the machine to use the directory relative to the current working directory. Whenever you see a problem like this it's best to be explicit and give an absolute pathname to avert any problems.
