What is the purpose of the Ring Generator?

Going to be using MG Chasis, Do I need to bring it over?

Is this only necessary if distance is an issue?

If I am using a MG 1010, do I need to utilize the Ring Gen?

There is no replaceable ring generator in a 1010 chassis or any chassis for that matter. The ring generator is built in to the power supply.
