We have some laptop that we are sending to Cambodia, these laptops are very slow. I am looking for a way that the users can use them Windows is too slow?

Thanks in advance.

I have some older slower laptops I would like to install Lunix on them what version can I install that does not leave a large footprint?

For the lightest distros check out:
Puppy-Linux DSL These runs ok on P3 with 128Mb RAM.

Depending on your laptops you could also try
Ubuntu with the Xfce4 desktop, called Xubuntu
But you need 256Mb RAM and CPU >= P4 to get decent performance with it.

How much older/slower are the laptops. What sort of spec are you talking about?

DSL, Puppy and Vector will are OK on a 400MHz PII but don't work very well on 120MHz P1s. Even Fedora9 is not too bad on a 400MHz PII.

For P1s, you need something really old like RH5 or SUSE6 but it is next to impossible to find them on the net. I got mine from a book in a 2nd hand bookstore. I haven't found any new distros that work well on really old laptops with 32-64Mb RAM.
