HI I reformatted my IBM R51 laptop with windows xp pro. Only thing messed up in the device manager is SM Bus controller. I searched the imb website and can not find. Does anyone know what this is or where I can find a driver for it?

Thanks much.

Bob2c,
I have battled trying to explain how to download the infset utility from Intel for over a year.

You link is short and sweet. (Use the .ZIP format, you will never reach the FTP server for the .EXE format).

Thank you, star,
Bill

I should note that the Intel utility will expect:
. an Intel processor
. Intel support chipsets

For example, you may have an Intel P4 processor, but VIA or SiS support chipsets. This utility will not help you.

The Intel® Application Accelerator replaces the ATA drivers that come with Windows* with drivers optimized for desktop and mobile PCs using select Intel® chipsets. It reduces the storage sub-system bottleneck, enabling the processor and other system level hardware to be more productive and efficient. In most cases, it is not a requirement for your operating system to work properly."

I think you need the INF utility for other chipset drivers.
