What is Lotus Notes?

Hi,

can anyone help me answer this question: What is Lotus Notes?

I do work with Lotus Notes, but i'm certainly not an expert. I need an explanation that a non technical user would understand. And the explanation has to be just a few lines. You'd do me a great favor. Thnx in advance!

Ok, here's an attempt:

Notes is a product that allows a defined group of users to interact through data exchange, such as e-mail, and data sharing, such as informational databases, while providing a framework of flow control and security. In conjuntion with Domino, it provides for access to stored data and applications over a network, be it a domain, an intranet, or the internet. Notes and Domino have all most all the functionality of Outlook and Exchange email, with vastly greater flexibility regarding document storage and sharing.
Also very few viruses are written to attack a Notes system, an additional safety feature over Microsoft products.
