In the past 24 hours, each time I open Excel, I get a message first saying, that funcres.xla cant be found. It's something to do with functions or vba I suppose. Do I need to reinstall it?

Norton deleted something the other day, I don't know if it is related. Should have been paying more attention...

Thanks

M

Try re-installing Office, or grabbing the .xla file directly from the CD and popping it into your office directory, or wherever the other .xla files are.

Funcres.xla enables the Analysis ToolPak functions for use in worksheets. It is loaded when you check the toolpak option under Tools|AddIns.

To stop it from attempting to load, if you don't need it, just choose Tools-Add-ins from the Excel menu and uncheck the Analysis Toolpak option.

If you need it, try looking on your Office CD(s). You'll need to copy the file to the correct location. We're using Office '97 and the file resides at program files\microsoft office\office\library\analysis.

If you got an infection it may have been what Norton deleted. Have you done a complete system scan since Norton detected whatever it was it detected?

Cheers.

Sorry Griffyn, I didn't mean to step on you. We must have been posting at the same time.

Cheeers.

Thanks to both of you. I haven't fixed it yet, but at least know how to.

Have done another scan, nothing unusual. Errors fixed - just shortcuts.

The problem actually started when I downloaded an excel sheet from the web. I found it via one of the threads here, rcommending it as a great summary sheet for functions. I must follow it up again.

Thanks again,

M
