Hello,

I'm trying to learn more about switches and came across Ethernet Channeling. Can anyone describe what Ethernet Channeling is? I've tried googling but get different answers also how would one set it up using two 2950's ?

Thanks!

Ethernet channeling is the ability to group multiple switchports together in an etherchannel group to increase the bandwidth between two switches, usually used within core environments. The following link should help you with setting up this between 2950's.

Hope this helps.

I see. Is there a limit to the number of switchports you can use? Also I don't have a l/p to the Cisco site so I can't access the link you provided.

I believe you are limit4ed to like 8 ports per etherchannel.

Also note that etherchanneling gives you redundancy.

As with anything when you link switch to switch the configuration both ends must be identical.
