Where can I learn more about what a Private Data Session is and how I can use it?

A private data session is actually a separate environment were you can open tables independently from other sessions.

F.i.
When I open a table A in session one and the same table A in session two, when I move the cursor in table A in session one, the cursor in session two will not move.

This also implies that you can open a table with the same alias in two seperate datasessions.

A private data session is very handy when you do not wish to interfere with other sessions when manipulating tables.

There are a lot of advantages (and some disadvantages ;-)), but I suggest you read that in the MSDN programmers guide.
